DETROIT (WKZO) -- A new limousine for the President is being developed by General Motors, but few details are being released. GM Vice President of Global Design Ed Wellborn told reporters at the Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany that the company has more security around this project than any other vehicle under development.
The vehicle used by President Obama was delivered in 2009 shortly after he took office and was built at the GM Hamtramck Assembly Plant. The security features on the car include bulletproof glass, an interior sealed to prevent a chemical attack and five-inch thick armor plating.
The new vehicle will likely weigh about the same as the current model which is ten-thousand pounds.
