CHICAGO, IL (WTVB) - The Tigers snapped their 3-game skid last night with a 9-1 win over the White Sox in Chicago. The victory also boosted Detroit’s lead in the American League Central to 5-and-a-half games over the second place Indians, who lost to the Royals. Rick Porcello tossed his first career complete game with a seven hitter to improve to 12-and-8. Prince Fielder homered for the Tigers with 4 hits and 2 rbi’s. Alex Avilla also had 4 hits and 2 rbi’s for Detroit. Five of the Tiger’s runs were unearned, thanks to four Chicago errors. Anibal Sanchez shoots for his seventh straight win tonight for Detroit when they play the rubber game of the 3-game set with the White Sox.

The Tigers on Tuesday said that All-Star shortstop Jhonny Peralta will return to the club today in Chicago to workout in anticipation of the completion of his 50-game suspension issued back in early August for his ties to Major League Baseball’s performance-enhancing drug scandal. That punishment is scheduled to end on Sept. 26, three days before the end of the regular season. Tigers President Dave Dombrowski said there’s been no decision yet about possibly activating Peralta when his suspension is lifted.
