COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Branch County was under a severe thunderstorm warning late yesterday afternoon and there were scattered reports of a few downed trees and limbs, mostly in the southern part of the county but parts of Calhoun County really got slammed and today, they’re cleaning up the damage from a series of isolated but intense storm cells that toppled trees into vehicles and homes. Some could be without power for a day or two.
Albion College has shut down for the rest of the week because of the extensive damage on campus and in the community. The campus has no hot water or electricity or exterior lighting and they are telling students they should go home as soon as possible. They will be closing the dorms at noon today, and may reopen them on Sunday if they have power. Classes won’t resume until Monday. At last word, no injuries were reported.
