JOLIET, IL (WTVB) - Matt Kenseth battled the field and a nearly six hour rain delay to pick up a win in the Geico 400 at Chicagoland Speedway in NASCAR's first event in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. The race was scheduled to begin shortly after two yesterday afternoon but concluded under the  lights just past midnight. Kenseth, the top seed, passed Kyle Busch with 23 laps to go on a restart and held on for his sixth victory of the season. Busch held on for a second-place finish while Kevin Harvick was third.  Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson rounded out the top-five. Kenseth has an eight-point advantage on Kyle Busch in the points standings.

The Chase next heads to New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Sunday’s Sylvania 300.
