GLENDALE, AZ (WTVB) - The Detroit Lions were let down by poor special teams play along with too many costly penalties and dropped passes and still had a chance to win before suffering a 25-to-21 loss on the road to the Arizona Cardinals. Besides having their record drop to 1-and-1, Detroit lost running back Reggie Bush, who took a helmet to the knee and played only briefly in the second half. Bush will have an MRI exam today.

The Lions led 21-19 early in the fourth quarter before the Cardinals scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1:59 to go. The Lion’s last possession ended a yard short of a first down at their own 43 and then Arizona ran out the final 1:09 on the clock. Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford was 24-of-36 for 278 yards and two touchdown passes to Calvin Johnson, including a 72-yard play.

DeAndre Levy had a 66-yard interception return for a score for the Lions.Detroit placekicker David Akers missed a 47-yarder and had another 47-yard field goal attempt blocked. The Lions were penalized 8 times for 101 yards. Game Three for the Lions will be Sunday against the Redskins at Washington. Yesterday, the Redskins fell to 0-and-2 after being routed at Green Bay 38-to-20. The Packers are 1-and-1.

In a matchup of NFC North rivals in Chicago, the Bears rallied in the final minute to edge the Vikings 31-to-30. The Bears are 2-and-0 while Minnesota slips to 0-and-2.
