COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The Coldwater Board of Education last night selected local veterinarian Dr. Ron Lanford to fill the vacancy on the Board created last month with the resignation of trustee Rick Gates. Lanford said he was honored to be chosen by the Board and told them during his interview that he believes it’s important to give back to the community and serving as a trustee is a good way to do that. The board met in special session and interviewed four other candidates before giving the nod to Lanford, who said he’s been thinking about stepping forward to run for the school board for the past couple of years and now has a bit of extra free time to devote to handle the trustee duties.
The other candidates interviewed by the school board were Carrie Jones, John Rucker, Rob Rzepka, and Anne Marso. Lanford will serve the remainder of Gates’ term which comes up for election in November of next year.
