COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Branch County’s unemployment rate has improved after 3 straight months of higher jobless figures. The August rate of 8.6% is down 1.5% from July’s 10.1%. State officials said Thursday it got better in all 12 regions of Michigan because of the initial withdrawal of youth and other seasonal workers from the summer workforce. While the numbers may be encouraging, the rate for August was .2% higher than a year ago at this time in Branch County.
