MARSHALL (WTVB) - A former Calhoun County Corrections officer who crossed the line into crime has a tough decision to make. Troy Pope had already cut a deal with prosecutors to have most of the charges against him dropped for a series of sexual encounters, some with minors that stretch back to his teen years. He has entered a plea to a single charge of 3rd Degree criminal sexual conduct. But a Judge has now rejected that deal, saying the prison sentence they agreed to does not fall within sentencing guidelines, which call for a 2 to 15 year sentence. The Judge has given Pope a week to decide he will accept a sentence that is within guidelines as part of his deal or would rather go to trial on the 5 original charges.
