UNDATED (WHTC) -- Verification schedules for registered sex offenders are changing due to Public Act 149 of 2013. The schedules will now be based on the offenders’ birth month. They will also have the full month to verify rather than only the first 15 days of the month. Sgt. Bruce Payne of the MSP Sex Offender Registry Unit says he thinks the registry is working. He said that in the state of Michigan, there's about 93% compliance with the registry. In addition to schedule changes, sexual offenders are now required to pay an annual $50 fee each year after their initial registration.
