Red Wings beat the hottest team in hockey, topping Boston 3-2

DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - The Red Wings last night cooled off the Bruins, beating Boston 3-2 at Joe Louis Arena. It was Detroit’s third straight win following a 3-game skid while the Bruins lost in regulation for the first time in 17 games.  Gustav Nyquist scored the go-ahead goal for the Red Wings with 7:12 left in the third period. Nyquist has a team-high 27 goals this season.

Jimmy Howard made 33 saves in the victory to keep Detroit’s standing as a wild card playoff team in the Eastern Conference with six games left. Tomorrow night, the Red Wings host the Buffalo Sabres.

Last night in minor league hockey, in the ECHL, the Kalamazoo Wings scored a 6-3 victory at Elmira.
