BURR OAK, MI (WTVB) - Always buckle up...for safety...and for other reasons. A high speed pursuit late yesterday afternoon ended with troopers from the Michigan State Police Coldwater Post Canine Unit arresting a Sturgis man after speeds reached over 100 mph in a five mile long chase across Burr Oak Township. Troopers said they attempted to stop 33-year-old Corey Roggow for a seat belt violation. Roggow and a passenger from Mendon identified as Brian Lowery fled eastbound on Hackman Road near M-66 in Burr Oak Township. The pursuit ended at the intersection of Carpenterson and Kelly Roads. After they got his pickup truck pulled over, Roggow fled on foot for a short distance before begin arrested. A search of the vehicle by the MSP canine showed Roggow was in possession of 3.5 grams of Methamphetamine. Felony charges he’s facing include fleeing & eluding police, possession of meth, operating under the influence of drugs, driving while license suspended and parole violation. The passenger Lowery who also is on parole was not arrested at this time. State Troopers were assisted by the Saint Joseph County Sheriff Department and Sturgis Police.
