LANSING (WKZO) -- Former state Senate Majority Leader Ken Sikkema is backing the road funding plan announced last week by House Speaker Jase Bolger. In an appearance over the weekend on the public TV show "Off the Record," Sikkema said Bolger’s plan will make a difference, even if it falls short of the 1.3-billion dollars sought by Governor Rick Snyder. The speaker’s idea would scrap gasoline and diesel taxes in favor of a six-percent tax on the wholesale price of fuel and making sure money collected for road work actually has to be spent in that way.
