COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Gas prices spiked again late Sunday and Monday by at least 15 cents a gallon at many stations in the Branch County area leaving the new norm at around $3.85 a gallon. Gasbuddy.com’s Patrick Dehaan says they will go higher before peaking this spring. He is guessing we will eventually be paying close to $4 a gallon but we shouldn’t get anywhere near last year’s high of 4.29 a gallon. He says the new BP Refinery in Whiting Indiana was specifically expanded to handle all that cheap crude coming out of Canada, and he says we should be the beneficiaries of that production. He says prices should be more stable and lower for the rest of the year because of the new refinery.
