PITTSBURGH (WTVB) - Red Wings last night clinched a spot in the playoffs for the 23rd straight season by picking up a point in their 4-3 shootout loss at Pittsburgh. The outcome against the Penguins secured a wildcard berth in the postseason with Detroit set to face either Pittsburgh or Boston. Tomas Jurco, Jakub Kindl and Riley Sheahan all scored for Detroit with Sheahan’s goal with 1:15 to play in the third period tying it up at 3-3. Jonas Gustavsson allowed three goals on 24 attempts in defeat. The Red Wings finish up the season with a home game tomorrow night vs. Carolina and then they’re on the road Sunday against St. Louis.
