The Steuben County jail today is holding five suspects from the Chicago area on drug charges and for fraudulent credit card activity. Around 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon, Angola City Police were called to check out some suspicious activity at the Farmers State bank. When they arrived, they spotted a white SUV in a nearby parking lot that matched the description of a vehicle used last week while committing credit card fraud. When they started to talk to the 4 men in the car, they noticed a strong odor of nacotics. K-9 Jax was brought to the scene and alerted officers to the presence of drugs and a search turned up marijuana and cocaine. About the same time, police discovered that the fifth suspect was in the bank using altered credit cards. The investigation is continuing as Angola Police were assisted by sheriff’s deputies, state police, the Indiana Conservation Office and the Secret Service.
