State Police release name of man killed early Sunday morning after being hit by truck in Batavia Township

BRONSON, MI (WTVB) - Michigan State Police at the Coldwater Post have now confirmed that what they initially reported as being a pedestrian-truck personal injury accident that happened early Sunday in Branch County’s Batavia Township was a fatal hit-n-run which remains under investigation. Pronounced dead at the scene was 54-year old Paul Means, who lived near where the incident occurred along Barnhart Road. Police are still looking for the truck driver involved.

Troopers say Means had been a passenger in a car with another man and a woman who was driving when she pulled over and Means got out of the vehicle and was standing by the side of the road when he was struck around 2:45 a.m. Sunday. Police believe the truck was possibly a dually pickup that was pulling a trailer.

Anyone who might know something about the truck and or driver is asked to call the Coldwater State Police Post, Branch County Central Dispatch, or CrimeStoppers at 800-342-STOP.
