BRONSON, MI (WTVB) - The threat of brush and grass fires remains high in Branch County and Southwest Michigan and fire crews were putting out the mini-wildfires all weekend. The combination of sunny days, dry air and breezy winds makes conditions right for dead brush to catch fire. Authorities say avoid burning outside if at all possible until the plant life gets greener.
Yesterday afternoon around 5:45 pm, the alarm was sounded for the Bronson Fire Department to head to 1032 South Snow Prairie Road for a grass fire. They were on the job for about an hour and a half. One of the bigger grass fires was at the Air National Guard base near Battle Creek. There were no reports of any injuries.
