NAPLES, FL (WTVB) - Former Michigan State All-American quarterback and 3-time Super Bowl winner Earl Morrall has passed away. The 79-year old Morrall, who was a star athlete at Muskegon High School, died Friday morning in Naples, Florida after a long illness. His 21-year career in the NFL included 7 seasons with the Lions. Morrall started the final nine games of the regular season during the Miami Dolphins' perfect season in 1972. He came off the bench to replace an injured Bob Griese, who returned in the AFC title game and led the Dolphins to a Super Bowl victory.
