HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) - Republican Bruce Caswell of Hillsdale has served nearly a dozen years in Lansing with 6 years in the State House and then the past 4 years in the State Senate before announcing last month he wouldn’t be seeking re-election to the Senate. But that doesn’t mean he’s retiring from public office.
Caswell has filed to be a candidate for Hillsdale County Commissioner to represent the 4th district, which is currently held by Brad Benzig, who is one of 7 G-O-P candidates in the running to capture the Republican nomination to be on the fall ballot for the 58th District State House seat currently held by Ken Kurtz, who is term limited. Caswell has never served on the Hillsdale County Board but for 2 decades he was the supervisor of Adams Township. He faces no opposition for the County Commission.
