COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says it’s still investigating Monday’s mini-van rollover crash on I-69 in Kinderhook Township that sent a Pleasant Lake, Indiana couple to the hospital in stable condition. Deputies said 48-year old Joseph Donelson was northbound on the highway when witnesses said it looked like he overcorrected after leaving the right side of the roadway. The van then skidded across the interstate and rolled over about 4 times in the median, landing upside down on its roof.
Responding officers were first told that the vehicle was on fire and passengers were pinned inside. When the Lakeland Fire Department arrived, they discovered no fire and nobody pinned. Donelson and his passenger, Deborha Ann Donelson, also 48, were admitted to the Community Health Center of Branch County for treatment. Alcohol was not a factor, but deputies said drugs may have been.
