COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The Coldwater City Council decided last night that the Heritage Park swimming pool will stay open at least one more year, on a trial basis. It was expected that the pool would be demolished after this summer with the anticipated opening of the new Aquatic Center later this fall and then the Heritage pool area would be transformed into a splash park. However, the projected costs for the splash park came into well over budget.
There will be an increase in the price for admission, to a proposed $4.00 per person to use the pool, a hike from the current $2.00 for kids and $3.00 for adults. City officials say surrounding communities already on average charge $4.00 or $5.00 to use their public pools.
There also will be an effort to work collaboratively with the Coldwater school system to cross market the use of both pools.
