Spartans kick off college football season at home tonight, Texas A & M rolls past South Carolina

EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Michigan State opens their 2014 season tonight as they host Jacksonville State at Spartan Stadium. The 8TH-ranked Spartans are returning 15 starters from last year, when MSU won 13 games, including the Big Ten Championship Game and the Rose Bowl.

Michigan starts its schedule tomorrow at home against Appalachian State while Western Michigan plays at Purdue. Last night in Mt. Pleasant, Central Michigan rallied past Chattanooga 20-16.

In major college football, the season kicked off last night with three games involving ranked teams. #20 Texas A&M moved on without Johnny Manziel and rolled past ninth-ranked South Carolina 52-28. Eighteenth ranked Arizona State smashed Weber State 45-14.  #19 Ole Miss cruised to a 35-13 victory over Boise State at the Georgia Dome.
