GRAND RAPIDS (WTVB) - Governor Snyder came to West Michigan yesterday to fulfill one of the promises he made during his State of the State address. He named Bing Goie, an Asian-American immigrant and businessman from Grand Rapids to become the director of his office of New Americans. The goal will be to attract legal immigrants to Michigan. The Governor said that should apply to the highly skilled immigrants, entrepreneurs we want to see here and students that we want to keep in Michigan. He also said we need to have more agricultural workers, noting how last year there were goods left on trees, some of our apple crop and other things. Goie is the owner of Eastern Floral and a one time State House candidate.
