COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The rest of the story remains to be told but in Branch County, a couple from Coldwater suffered hypothermia early today when they had to be rescued from the near zero temperatures while trying to walk 20 miles to the husband’s job in Angola, Indiana. They called 9-1-1 shortly after four a.m., saying they needed help with the wife described as having trouble breathing and unresponsive. They were found along Old 27 south of Coldwater near Pearl Road in Ovid Township.
Lakeland Fire Department First Responders assisted them until Lifecare Ambulance arrived on scene and then transported them to the Community Health Center of Branch County, where they were treated and released. Fire officials were told the couple had lost possession of their car and the husband was determined to get to work and his wife said she wasn’t going to let him take the trek by himself.
