COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - It seems there’s no end to the giving in Branch County. At last night’s Coldwater Board of Education meeting, they unveiled the latest lengthy list of donors to the district with gifts from private individuals and businesses in the community totaling more than $34,000. The two dozen donors with gifts large and small include Flagstar Bank at the WalMart Angel Tree, a thousand dollars to purchase hoodies for students at Franklin High School with the same amount given from the Knights of Columbus for the hoodies for Franklin students. A handful of builders and electricians gave $1,250 for the Legg Middle School Backpack Buddies program. The Walmart Distribution Center donated two large flat screen TVs for film review for the Athletic Department.
The largest donation, $17,000 for two score boards, came from Century Bank and Trust in partnership with the Larsen Unitrust. The Sunrise Rotary provided $1,000 for the purchase of classroom flags for Legg Middle School. And Eric Goodwin donated $6,600 for a display case for the athletic lobby and also a tumble track and vault landing mat package for the gymnastics program.
The school board last night resolved that a letter of appreciation, on behalf of trustees, be sent to each donor for their worthwhile and generous gifts.
