LANSING, MI (WTVB) - One day after the Governor Rick Snyder signed a letter with six other Midwest governors asking for help from the White House to address the propane shortage, the state of Michigan is initiating several efforts to address the crisis. The Department of Human Services is working with the legislature to double the size of the Michigan Energy Assistance Program from 7 to 14-million to assist homeowners with crippling bills for deliverable fuels.
The M.E.D.C. will be working with propane suppliers to help them get loans to make it possible to keep the propane flowing. They have to buy it before they can sell it and they are dealing with the same escalating prices as consumers.
