COLDWATER (WTVB) - Another sign that winter hopefully will soon be in the rear view mirror comes each year in February with the announcement in Coldwater of the lineup for the Tibbits Summer Theatre season. They’ll be celebrating 51 years of providing professional summer stock theatre for southern Michigan and northern Indiana this year and it will include two popular Tony-award winning musicals, a sure-fire comedy and a musical revue featuring the songs of one of Americas most celebrated song writing teams. The season will open on a high note June 26 with “The Look of Love” A musical revue featuring the many songs of Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Rather than a traditional story line the songs and staging take audiences through a celebration of the music of a generation. The show runs June 26-28 and July 2-5.
Next up is “A Chorus Line.” The winner of nine Tony Awards is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theatre during an audition for a musical providing a glimpse into the personalities of the performers and the choreographer as they describe the events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers. It runs July 10 through 19. Running July 24 through August 2 is the musical comedy classic, “Guys and Dolls,” And then the summer of celebration closes with the witty comedy “Alone Together” the story of empty nesters who find their lives and nest filled up again by the sudden, unexpected arrival of their children. The show runs from August 7 to 16th. Popcorn Theatre will again offer live theatre opportunities for families every Friday and Saturday morning from June 20 through August 9. Popcorn theatre titles will be announced in March. Season tickets sales for the four main shows will go on sale February 20 and will be available to purchase at Tibbits administrative offices at 93 W. Chicago St or by calling 517-278-6029 and on line at Tibbits.org.
