COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -  5 wrestlers from Bronson are headed to the MHSAA individual wrestling finals at the end of the month at the Palace of Auburn Hills after advancing from Saturday’s regionals. There were 13 competitors from the county who qualified for the regionals where the top 4 finishers in each weight division punched their tickets to the Palace. Bronson had 7 qualifiers at the Climax-Scotts Division 4 Regional along with 2 from Quincy and one from Union City.  The five from Bronson who made the grade for the finals were David Erwin, Brett Burtrum, and Skyler Riker, each with runner-up finishes, along with Kahle Scheenks, who placed third and Jukoada Sexton, who placed fourth. None of the 3 wrestlers from Coldwater were able to move on from the Division 2 Regional at Mason.

Coming up tonight in high school sports, weather permitting, there are a number of makeup games on the schedule in boys and girls basketball that were snowed out last month. That includes Coldwater vs. Harper Creek with the boys playing in Coldwater and the girls at Harper Creek. We’ll have the boys contest on the radio with our live coverage beginning at seven o’clock. The game tips-off around 7:15 following the junior varsity action at 5:45 and the freshman at 4:15.  Also tonight in boys basketball, it’s Bronson at Niles-Brandywine and Mendon at Union City while in girls hoops, it’s Colon at Bronson. Today on the Coaches Corner, it’s Coldwater girls basketball coach Ken Smoker.
