COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The City of Coldwater is again advising homeowners to run a thin stream of water from a faucet until the ground thaws, because they have seen more than a dozen cases of frozen underground water pipes this winter scattered in various neighborhoods around the city. The Coldwater BPU says it helps out with the necessary repairs and no one has lost water service for any extended period of time. And while there is a bit of a thaw in store for this week, the extended forecast call for highs only in the teens again by the middle of next week with single digit temperatures likely.
You may be particularly vulnerable if your home has a history of frozen water service. Keeping water running through your system will keep the pipes thawed. Some of the symptoms to watch for: a decrease in water pressure, rusty or cloudy water, or extremely cold water coming from the tap. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact the CBPU’s water department at 279-4805.
