Rain and warm-up cause more pot holes, Walk Across Branch County raises $4,000

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Thursday’s heavy rains and snowmelt created a lot of big puddles and started some new potholes around Branch County, but local officials and 9-1-1 Central Dispatch report no injuries or road closures. The national weather last night cancelled their flood warning and flood watch. The wind is the main weather story today plus the forecast for a polar vortex like frigid blast headed our way next week.

The prediction for more below normal temperatures makes Community Action’s Walk for Warmth emergency heating assistance fund raisers tomorrow in Coldwater, Union City, and at other locations across the area even more timely.  And that goes double for Ken Delaney’s Annual Walk Across Branch County yesterday with his 17-mile trek bringing in donations and pledges totaling around $4,000, which C-A says will help 15 needy families pay their bills to keep the heat on.
