COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - After deep losses last year, The Community Health Center of Branch County has started 2014 with a slight profit on the books for the month of January and so far, February looks like it could be another month in the black. 2013 ended at CHC with negative income and a net loss of just under $2-million. The latest figures were reviewed at last night’s regular monthly meeting of the hospital’s Board of Trustees.
The improved outlook at the Health Center was in part the result of $78,000 in salary and wage reductions last month compared to what was budgeted, as well as health insurance costs for CHC employees $189,000 below budget projections. There was also an update on the strategic partnership process for the Community Health Center with word that the review of proposed partners for the hospital is being rescheduled for early March. Randy DeGroot, CHC President and CEO, said there’s hope that two additional proposals will be received.
