ANN ARBOR, MI (WTVB) - Michigan has jumped ahead of Michigan State in this week’s Associated Press poll following the Wolverines win Sunday over MSU and a sweep of the season series over the Spartans. 18-7 Michigan moved up from 20th to 16th place in the latest rankings released Monday while 22-6 Michigan State slipped 5 spots to 18th place. Michigan plays tomorrow night at Purdue while the Spartans are idle until Saturday when they host Illinois. The Wolverines lead the Big Ten with their 11-3 conference mark a half game better than 11-4 Michigan State.
The nation’s new number one team is Florida with the Gators replacing Syracuse, which dropped to fourth place following their first two losses last week to Boston College and Duke.
