COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - A Branch County domestic violence suspect who fled to Ohio last fall after allegedly punching and choking a woman at a home in Kinderhook Township, is lodged in the county jail in Coldwater today. 27-year old William Miller of Defiance, Ohio is being held on a quarter million dollars bond. Miller was arraigned yesterday in District Court on multiple counts including Assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.
Sheriff’s Deputies and Michigan State Police were dispatched on the night of September 17th to investigate a reported domestic assault at a location on Third Drive in Kinderhook. When they arrived, Miller was gone. The victim told police the suspect had been drinking and became very abusive and some of her injuries occurred when she was kicked with Miller’s steel toed boots. He also tried to rip her phone away, but after learning she had called for help, he took off. The woman was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County where she was treated and released.
A warrant was issued for Miller and a week ago Sunday he was arrested in Defiance and on Monday, extradited to Michigan. Miller’s next court day is March 6, 2014.
