COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Branch County Road Commission manager Trent Arver says his crews started at 5 a.m. this morning and continue to battle the major snow drifting caused by the high winds. According to Arver, there are several roads throughout the county that are impassible and he says crews continue to work diligently to get and keep them open. Arver added that equipment breakdowns are occurring regularly due to the age of the equipment, depth of snow and extreme cold temperatures. There were nine breakdowns so far of the total 22 plow trucks, 2 graders, 2 end loaders and 2 pickups on the road this morning already. Winds are expected to die down later this afternoon and crews will continue to work into the night until all public roads are passable. Arver says a full recovery from this storm event is expected by end of day Thursday, pending any change in the weather forecast.
