COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - In Branch County high school sports, it was yet another day of game cancellations Wednesday as schools remained closed with hazardous travel conditions still evident as the area recovers from this week’s frigid winter storm conditions. However, the gradual thaw out that began yesterday will continue now through the weekend and that improves chances that tonight’s basketball games and the rest of the events coming up tomorrow and Saturday can stay on schedule.
Coming up this evening in varsity boys basketball, Quincy hosts Jonesville. And in reserve boys and girls hoops, it’s Coldwater vs. Sturgis with the boys action at Sturgis while the girls play in Coldwater. The freshman contests tip-off at 4:15 pm followed by the j-v games at 5:45 pm. The varsity contests are on tap for tomorrow night in Coldwater and we’ll have doubleheader coverage on the radio beginning at 5:30 pm with the girls matchup and then the boys game set to start at 7:15 pm. And in wrestling, it’s a make-up meet tonight for Coldwater with the Cardinals at Sturgis for the SMAC East quad action that was called off yesterday.
Today on the Coaches Corner, it’s Union City boys basketball coach Ben Chard.
