KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) - There was a Mid-American Conference season opener last night in Kalamazoo where Western Michigan took down Toledo 87-76 at University Arena. Connar Tava scored a career high 25 points to lead the way for the Broncos. Austin Richie added 19 points in the win while Shayne Whittington recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to help WMU improve to 8-and-5. Toledo slipped to 12-and-2 after starting out 12-0 with their only other loss in their last game 11 days ago at 18th-ranked Kansas.
Tonight’s schedule includes Michigan at Nebraska. Last night in the Big Ten, number-4 Wisconsin walloped 23rd-ranked Illinois 95-70 at Madison.
