DETROIT, MI (WTVB) – The Detroit Pistons fell to 1-and-3 on the preseason after a 102-97 loss to Washington at Little Caesars Arena.
Andre Drummond led Detroit with 17 points and 20 rebounds, Blake Griffin contributed 16 points and Glenn Robinson the Third added 13 off the bench.
The Pistons wrap up the exhibition schedule tomorrow night against Cleveland at the Breslin Center on the campus of Michigan State.
Disgruntled guard Jimmy Butler returned to the Minnesota Timberwolves in dramatic fashion on Wednesday. ESPN reports Butler called out multiple people including Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins, along with head coach Tom Thibodeau and general manager Scott Layden. Butler also guided four back-up players to a win in scrimmages against the starting unit.
In an interview with ESPN shortly after the practice, he stated that his issues with the team are not resolved. Butler requested a trade from the Timberwolves last month and the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets have shown interest, but no deal has gotten done.
“Triangle Offense” pioneer Tex Winter, who assisted Phil Jackson on 11 NBA championship teams with the Bulls and Lakers, has died at 96. Winter published ”The Triple-Post Offense” in 1962 and teamed with Jackson to use the system to great success with Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Winter assisted Jackson on championship teams with the Bulls in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998, and the Lakers in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2009.
