DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - Darren Helm scored the winning goal in the sixth round of the shootout as the Red Wings edged the Blackhawks 5-4 at Joe Louis Arena. Tomas Tatar and Patrick Eaves scored a goal each in the first period, while Kyle Quincey and Gustav Nyquist both lit the lamp in the second for Detroit. Jonas Gustavsson stopped 31 shots in the victory.
The win snapped the Red Wings seven game regular season losing streak against the defending Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks. Tomorrow night, Detroit plays at home against Toronto.
