MICHIGAN CITY, INDIANA (WKZO) -- A massive multiple vehicle pileup along I-94 just below the Michigan border in Indiana is being blamed for two deaths so far, but there may be more. White out conditions caused by an intense lake effect storm cell contributed to the chain reaction pile-up involving at least 15-semi-tractor trailer rigs and a yet to be determined number of cars heading east into Michigan. There are reports of cars being crushed underneath the semi’s and that there may be more bodies in those cars. 'Emergency responders from several counties responded to the scene to transport the injured to hospitals, begin the investigation into the cause and to begin the clean-up effort. They are reportedly bringing in cranes to lift the semi’s off the cars. The crash did not affect the west-bound lanes which are separated by a cement wall, but speed has been slowed by rubberneckers. Its not clear if any of the victims of the massive pile up are from West Michigan, but it seems likely.
