COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The Coldwater School District is ready to take the next step in a major upgrade of technology services for students and teachers. The Board of Education last night approved a 3-year agreement with the Calhoun Intermediate School District for coordination, technical, network and data center services. The action was taken following the recent retirement Gordon Swan, the district’s long time technology director.
Coldwater School Superintendent Dr. Tina Kerr told the school board that they’ve band-aided technology for a long time and for the last four years, the district has grown by thousands of machines while keeping the same staffing levels and that’s created some problems. The contract agreement has a price tag of $312,000 but Kerr said they feel that by going into an agreement with Calhoun ISD, they’re basically paying for three to four people while getting access to a staff of 50.
A related contract calls for CISD to provide technology instruction to Coldwater teachers and was also approved at a cost of $91,000.
