CENTREVILLE, MI (WTVB) - - A St. Joseph County Circuit Court jury has found murder suspect Andy Brown guilty of second degree murder. The jury was into its third day of deliberations when late yesterday morning it was finally was able to come to a consensus on the charges leveled at the Portage accountant. Brown had been accused of embezzling by his boss, Steven Locey. The next day, last fall, the 70-year old Locey was found at his office near Sturgis, dead from a bullet wound to the head.
The 37-year-old Brown will be sentenced next month and could get anything up to life in prison. He was also found guilty of felony firearms, which will mean he will serve two years, before serving whatever he gets for the homicide. The judge can also consider the fact that he has a previous conviction during the sentencing phase, which could mean little to no leniency.
