WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB) - The U.S. House has done what the Michigan legislature did on road funding and put off making any real decisions. Yesterday the House approved an extension of the Highway Trust Fund until next May and effectively kicked that can down the pothole riddled road until after the elections. President Obama is now calling on the Senate to follow their lead, even if he would have preferred action on a permanent solution.
Seventh District Michigan Congressman Tim Walberg says without the extension, the trust fund will run out of money next month. Walberg said yes to the nearly $11-billion measure and the bill passed on a bipartisan vote of 367-55.
