COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - When the Coldwater City Council meets in regular session Monday night, it will a consider including a pair of proposals on the November 4th general election ballot. One proposal would repeal a charter amendment, narrowly passed in the year 2000, that mandates minimum staffing levels for the Coldwater Fire Department of 1.5 firefighters per 1000 citizens. The other proposal would be an 11-year, 1.98 mill bond proposal that would raise $5.2 million for needed street and downtown parking lot repair. As City Manager Jeff Budd puts it in his memo to Council, "We yearn for a solution from the State Legislature that will put together a plan to improve funding for local roads. However, we cannot continue to let the streets fall into further disrepair."
