COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - There’s more financial evidence of why the Community Health Center of Branch County is taking a critical look at the possibility of a merger or maybe selling the hospital. It was reported at last night’s regular CHC Board of Trustees meeting that the Health Center had a net income loss of just over a half million dollars in April. That brings the red ink total so far this year to $1.2 million dollars. The Board’s finance committee also revealed that CHC’s net revenue has declined 12% compared to a year ago in April while expenses have fallen only 5.3%.
The trio of proposals that are the finalists for the hospital’s strategic partnership have received a second analysis from CHC’s consultant on the matter and will be the subject of a special session of the Board of Trustees scheduled for next Monday. Any recommendation by the hospital board to sell the Health Center or partner with another facility must receive final approval from the Branch County Board of Commissioners.
