WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKZO) -- Senator Debbie Stabenow is among those in Congress seeking to do something about troubles with the Veterans Affairs department.
Stabenow is joining fellow lawmakers in introducing the Restoring Veterans’ Trust Act of 2014 aimed at establishing immediate accountability within the VA to fire senior officials deemed to be responsible for poor performance at VA clinics. The act also seeks to establish guidelines for some immediate and several long-term plans meant to reduce wait-times and clear out the backlog of veterans still waiting for care.
A USA Today/Princeton Survey Research poll finds only one in five rating the medical care the VA provides as excellent or good. Seven out of ten believe the VA provides fair or poor care.
