COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - U.S. News & World Report recently released its annual Best Nursing Homes 2014 list, which highlights the top nursing homes in every state and encompasses nearly 100 major metropolitan areas. The Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater made the list. According to US News, around 25% of nursing homes considered for 2014′s list achieved a five-star rating, the highest given through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Nursing Home Compare program—a “sharp” increase from last year’s 19%, says U.S. News. A slightly larger share—26%—had four stars, the outlet found. No states had ratings declines.
About 30 percent of all nursing homes in Michigan earned an overall five-star rating. Maple Lawn overall scored five stars. At the top of the Michigan nursing homes list are those with a rating of five stars from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for their overall performance in health inspections, nurse staffing and quality of medical care.
Jayne Sabaitis, Maple Lawn administrator said it’s great to see outside agencies evaluating and recognizing their hardwork at the facility and growth in the medical care field. She called it another example of the exemplary staff and dedication that Maple Lawn has to the community. Maple Lawn has been recognized by the governor and other agencies for providing quality care through extended-stay nursing care to seniors with varying levels of disabilities.
