Both men named Bob Welch from 1980's fame have died

SEAL BEACH, CA (WHTC) - Both Bob Welchs from the 1980’s have now died.

The Detroit-area native and Eastern Michigan University product who pitched 17 years in Major League Baseball succumbed at his northern California home at the age of 57. This Bob Welch won World Series with the Dodgers in 1981 and the Athletics in 1989, and was the AL Cy Young Award winner in 1990 following a 27-win season. He is not related to the Bob Welch who was a member of Fleetwood Mac and made a name for himself as a solo singer with hits such as “Ebony Eyes” and “Sentimental Lady;” he died on June 7, 2012 at age 66, nearly two years before the pitcher.
