EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) - The teams that ended the seasons for the Coldwater high school baseball and Bronson softball in last weekend’s MHSAA Regionals won their quarterfinal games yesterday to advance to the state semi-finals. In baseball, in a Division Two matchup of SMAC East teams, Gull Lake eliminated Harper Creek, beating the Beavers 3-1. Gull Lake will next take on Mount Pleasant. And another SMAC East school remains in the running for a state title as Battle Creek Lakeview scored a 9-5 Division One victory yesterday over Saline. The Spartans will play Grosse Point South in the semi-finals.
In softball, Coloma, which captured the Bronson Division Three Regional, moved on Tuesday by defeating Springport 6-2. All of the baseball and softball tournament semi-finals and finals are being played this year at Michigan State with the Division One and Two semifinals tomorrow and the Division 3 and 4 semis on Friday and then the eight championships to be decided on Saturday.
In girls soccer, it’s the state semi-finals tonight with the four title matches set for Saturday. One of the teams still with a chance to win it all is defending Division Two champion Gull Lake.
