Coldwater girls softball team hands out postseason awards, basketball camps get underway today

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- The Coldwater softball awards banquet was held Monday night. Coach Tina Scheidler announced that Most Valuable Player honors went to the entire team, which finished the season with a 17-11 record. Individuals who were recognized included senior Jessica Becks and junior Michaela Gillette who were selected all league, all district, and all region while sophomore Kendall Galloway was honorable mention in all 3 categories. Sophomore Payton Watson was all league and Senior Kenzie Galloway and junior Morgan Howard were honorable mention all league. And in girls soccer, Quincy sophomore forward Cailyn Hines was Division Four All-State honorable mention in the selection made by the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association.

The Coldwater Lady Cardinal Basketball camp at the high school begins today for students entering grades three through six and continues for tomorrow, Friday, and Monday each day from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Then next Tuesday through Friday, same times, the camp will be for those going into grades seven through nine. The cost is 40 dollars per camper with 25 dollars for each additional family member. Registration is available at the door.

The Coldwater Cardinal boys summer basketball camp for the high school grades is happening today and tomorrow and next week Monday through Thursday at the high school gym from 2:30 until 5 p.m. and is 40 dollars per camper. Next week, Monday through Thursday, it’s for elementary grades 3 through 5 and for middle school students and the cost is 35 dollars. The elementary grades’ boys camp is from noon to 2 pm at the high school gym while the middle school camp is at the old gym from 9 to 11 a.m. Registration forms are available on the athletics’ page at www.coldwaterschools.org.
