COLDWATER (WTVB) The spotlight will be shining bright on seniors in Branch County over the next three days. Members of the Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging will be in Coldwater today and tomorrow and that includes on Friday holding their regular June meeting at the offices of the Branch St. Joseph Area Agency on Aging on North Marshall Road. The session starts at 10AM.
Then at 1PM, the State Commission will hold a public hearing at the H & C Burnside Senior Center in Coldwater. The hearing will provide an opportunity for older adults, caregivers and other interested individuals to ask questions and other comments on the state plan and aging services in general. The CSA advises the Governor, Michigan Legislature and the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging on matters relating to policies and programs for older adults in Michigan. Members of the CSA will arrive in Coldwater today and this afternoon attend a casual reception for them at the Tibbits Opera House.
Finally, to commemorate the 40-year anniversary of the Branch County Commission, an open house and dinner celebration is happening on Saturday at the Burnside Center from one to six p.m. Throughout the day, there will be tours of the center, live music, silent auction, and a roasted pork dinner. The cost is $7 for the meal and all donations go towards the purchase of a new medical transport van. The event sponsors are Albright Pork Enterprises, Wal-Mart and Family Fare.
